The Best National Western Ever!

Almosta Gang NWSS 2015
Almosta Gang NWSS 2015

With months of planning and organizing to attend the National Western in Denver, CO; the week has quickly come and gone.

This was Almosta Farm’s 12th year attending and it was probably the best we have had. There were 6 farms with 15 animals and lots of Juniors being a part of the “Almosta Gang” (yes, we have a name to our group). We all worked hard to promote our farms and animals along with laughing even harder. What fun and how proud we were to watch these kids in how they presented their animals and themselves.

A huge Congratulations to Maryn Cowell on being named the Junior Showman Champion and Reilly McConnell for being named the Reserve Junior Showman Champion!!!!!! It doesn’t get much better than that!! This was Maryn and her family’s first NWSS and hopefully, not her last.

Bailey McConnell and her crossbred steer (Shorthorn comsite / highland bull); Almosta Farm’s Wyatt was named the Reserve Crossbred Prospect Steer Champion!!! Congratulations!!

Now that things are unloaded, washed up and put away it’s time to start planning for calving. The first of March will start and should conclude by the first of April with 4 purebred calves coming from Yankee (the last calf crop of his) , 4 purebred calves from Koal and 2 cross bred calves from Koal.

May we all have an uneventful calving season.
